Quilting | FAL Q4 - 10 Reasons to Order Pizza

I have posts in my drafts un published. They are perfectly good, they have pictures, they have a touch of humor, a story and even some quilting.  What more could I ask for? yet they go un-published. The psychology of my mind baffles me sometimes.

This time I am just pushing the publish button and hope you enjoy this list of what inspires me, stresses me, entertains me and distracts me in my sewing room on a daily basis.

1. Post Punk Circus

I am sooo looking forward to putting this one together! I give away most of the quilts I make, but once in a while one stays with me. All of the major pieces are complete and ready to assemble.

2. Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds

I need to choose a quilting pattern for it. Roll up my sleeves, switch feet and get to it.

3. Pink in the Series of Three

This is a client quilt that needs "backing quilting and binding" - (this is the song of my people, you know who you are)

4. Birds in the Series of Three

I haven't even started this one! eek! it is a client quilt too. The same client as above.

5. Swoon in the Series of Three

This one is getting good! I am resisting the urge to desperately want to keep this one. I keep encouraging myself that I can make another one if I really want one.

6. Wild Child

waiting for a good thing is hard and not every client can do it so now I get to gift this one or keep it all for myself.

7. Superman Hooded Towel

My Dear Client has been waiting ever so long for this one. Perhaps I need to take a couple of days from everything shut the door order pizza for all meals and get this stuff done!

8. Kimono

Um, This one is super old and is starting to feel embarrassing.
Finish it Sarah! Finish it.

Maybe my list is too long... I am getting all angsty just writing about all these "loose ends" I am even starting to call them derogatory names! like loose ends (sob)

But I am stubborn and addicted, so I introduce to you,

9. Jeweled Box Stars

this is a leader and ender challenge with Bonnie Hunter. I am doing the traditional pattern instead of the flipped version that Bonnie created.

That's it for me today friends, Until next time, Stay angsty,

Sarah

Quilting | Lovely For the Set of Three

Hello Everyone. It is after the summer and it seems to be "back to it" after the summer boom. If the seasons and their various levels of busyness were described in economic terms then the summer would be a boom and the winter a recession (where we get cozy and use everything we gathered in the boom)

This summer was a busy one for sure! we renovated our house, sold said house, bought a larger house, planned a wedding and got married at the larger house aannnd now we are heading to the UK in two weeks.

I have managed to carve out time to get in the sewing room, I now have a sewing room!!! i am soooo loving it so far!

I have almost finished up the piecing for this quilt for a client. it is the first in a series of three. The three do not look alike one being a swoon quilt and the other a bird quilt.

The lady I am making the quilts for made me some hand made cold pressed custom scented soaps. soooo yummy. every time i shower it smells milky and real, not chemicalyy and perfumy! thank you Rebecca!

This weekend is harvesting the garden before we go to England! Linking to Finished or not Fridays , Off the Wall Friday , and Can I get a Whoop Whoop  , Needle and Thread Thursday

Until next time,

Stay lovely

Quilting | Q4, Monsters and Lions and Diamonds Oh My!

I have had a lot on the go. I bet you guys didn't know that. I am going to show you all what I have been working on (winky face). I will show you what occupies my time and the back room as we call it.

1. This awesome Over the Rainbow blanket
Which is almost done.

2.
The Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds Quilt
Needs more HST's but is coming along nicely

3.
Flying out of my Sewing Room Geese

I have several more rows waiting to be attached to this.

4.
I Did the Monster Mash

3 1/2'' squares need I say more... except I think it needs more punch, more color, more je ne ses quoi.

Things look so different in pictures. I work in a really small space so I don't get to see it layed out much.

Maybe I should join One Monthly Goal and have things like: Make lighting station, Make design wall, Cut up stash.... lol I don't know, it sounds ambitious. I am looking at going back to night classes and well, there won't be room or time for the fabric in my head. (yes I probably have fabric in my head, it's everywhere else)

Until then, stay clever my friends.

Quilting | AHIQ Improv Challenge

Hi, I have made a fabric pull for the AHIQ two block challenge! Kaja from sew slowly is hosting the challenge on her blog page here

Some of these fabrics have come from the epic church sale and some from the free store. There are a couple of licenced prints in here too that I aquired on a low willpower day.

I am trying to use all up-cycled and re-purposed materials in my quilts. For new fabrics I have been emailing the retail stores to see if they have an ethical purchasing policy or offer organic fabrics. I have not had any luck so far, mind you I have been looking at the normal retail stores.

Next, I need to choose a block or two. The above are some upcycled orphan blocks that were given to me by my mom's friend Pam. I have been meaning to write a post of all of the lovely material that she has given me and pieces of hers that show up in my quilts. I have been waiting for the Sunday Stash by Molli Sparkles to show it off. Next weekend my friends, I will post that one next weekend.

For the AIHQ I am thinking a pinwheel, log cabin and some applique... we shall see what happens!

I also really want to try a drunkards path block lol, so It may turn out completely different than the original plan!

I am looking forward to this challenge! Thank you for hosting it Kaja

Until later my friends, Stay up-cycled !

Quilting | Cabin HST the Duvet Cover Quilt

This is the Cabin HST. I think it needs to be bigger! lol.

The fiance wants me to make more scrappy HST's to fill it out.

I have a confession: I laid out the design and stacked the squares, numbered them, sewed them together in rows and sewed the rows together... in the wrong order. :/

I think I am going to leave it.

And I am thinking something different than more HST's around the edges. Something that mimics the placement on the bed if you know what I am meaning.

Yes, that is my side of the bed, I am alway freezing cold at night and pile on the blankets... on my side.
It may be ok to leave it this size so it can just cover me on my side of the bed.

But, it would be nice to create a cover for that duvet though. That counts as quilting right? a duvet cover quilt?

In the meantime, I am just going to make some more of these with my 1" - 1.5" scraps and sort through my epic church sale fabric score! (post and pics to come)

Stay thrifty my friends, until next time,

Sarah
