This is the Cabin HST. I think it needs to be bigger! lol.
The fiance wants me to make more scrappy HST's to fill it out.
I have a confession: I laid out the design and stacked the squares, numbered them, sewed them together in rows and sewed the rows together... in the wrong order. :/
I think I am going to leave it.
And I am thinking something different than more HST's around the edges. Something that mimics the placement on the bed if you know what I am meaning.
Yes, that is my side of the bed, I am alway freezing cold at night and pile on the blankets... on my side.

It may be ok to leave it this size so it can just cover me on my side of the bed.
But, it would be nice to create a cover for that duvet though. That counts as quilting right? a duvet cover quilt?
In the meantime, I am just going to make some more of these with my 1" - 1.5" scraps and sort through my epic church sale fabric score! (post and pics to come)
Stay thrifty my friends, until next time,
Sarah

I'd leave the quilt the way it is. I've done the same thing sewing things in the wrong order. There are lots of nice blues in your duvet cover quilt.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lisa. I think I might just leave it. I really do love blue. I am pretty sure that blue and grey are my favorite colors!
DeleteI second Lisa's opinion. So many times I have done that and I leave it. This is a fun, scrappy utility quilt that soon you will forget the old layout and love the new layout. Look forward to seeing what you scored at the rummage sale.
ReplyDeleteIt is true right! things tend to grow on us! The only part that makes me cringe are the two yellow triangles that are touching.... hahahaha, I will just have to balance them out with the rest of the surrounding pieces.
DeleteI love this quilt and agree you should leave it along and love to see how you're going to make it bigger. This is such a happy quilt.
ReplyDeleteAwww, thank you rose <3 It is strange how it came together. I wanted it to be all rustic and cabin-y. I really like it anyhow. I am interested to see if it will even look good at the cabin now.
DeleteI agree with everyone else. I would keep it as is. It looks fine, and I definitely would never know you had intended the rows to be in a different order. I look forward to seeing what you do with those new squares.
ReplyDeleteI am still sort of holding my breath on what I am going to do to make it a little larger. I have an idea, I just have to plunge in and see if it will come together. The little blocks are just something I work on in between it is like the pickled ginger on a sushi platter; a pallet cleanser :) LOL!
DeleteSarah, it looks wonderful, I love all the different fabrics you used. I made a full size HST quilt and by the time I was done I was like I never want to sew another HST again! I think it looks perfect as is, and I can relate to having a quilt that fits just my side of the bed! :)
ReplyDeletehahaha. Hi Abbie, Last night the DH was hogging the covers and I just gave up and went and got another quilt harrumphed and went back to sleep :) I don't know if I can bring myself to pull and stack more HST's for this one. If I had done it up front then it might of been ok, as it is it took two waves to get the amount that I used in the top.
DeleteI love your beginning! So pretty! And you know what Oogway on Kung Fu Panda says - "There are no accidents!" ;)
ReplyDeleteThat is an awesome quote, Miaismine! I saw you just finished a HST too!
DeleteI looked up Oogway quotes to reply to yours :) Oogway: One often meets his destiny on the road he takes to avoid it!
Love this scrappy goodness!
ReplyDeletehahaha! I tried matching colors that weren't expected. I think it turned out rich and interesting.
DeleteA wonderful scrappy utility quilt, I love all the different fabrics!
ReplyDeleteHi Linda, I cant wait to do the quilting on this one and get underneath it! I cant wait to show you what I ended up choosing for the additional fabric on the sides!
